Putting Down Roots

In the past few years, we've been seeing biophilic design pop up all throughout the interior design and architecture communities. This concept refers to a human connection with nature, and incorporating the natural environment into the built environment. A great way to bring this concept into your home is by adding plants. Plants can have a calming effect, help to clean the air, and bring a sense of satisfaction from observing their growth.

A great place to add some greenery is in your bathroom. It can be a bit unexpected yet a totally natural fit for the space. And an added bonus- it's easier to remember to water them if kept near a faucet! Here are some of the best plants for your bathroom that thrive in bathrooms:

Pothos: high humidity, low light

Tillandsia: high humidity, med-bright light

English Ivy: low light, lower temperatures

Snake Plant: med-low temperatures, light, and humidity

Ferns: high humidity, indirect light

Rubber Plant: high humidity, bright light

Aloe Vera (and other succulents): low humidity, bright indirect light

ZZ Plant: low humidity, low light
